Troubleshooting wonky Keyless Go
So the keyless go for my 2008 C350 is acting up. For a couple months now it will often not work and say "key not detected" in the main display when I touch any of the door handles.
Or it will not let me start the car without multiple tries pushing the start/stop button. Sometimes it makes me insert the key to drive.
When it does decide to work, it will keep making that "sensing" sound like it's trying to detect the key while I'm driving. The best way I can describe the sound is like the mechanism of a CD spinning in a CD player.
It will beep at me saying the key isn't detected, this would only ever happen before if my cell phone was too close to the key, or if there was RF interference in the area. But now it happens every time I drive, usually every 5 or 10 minutes.
I posted about this before, and someone suggested scan the vehicle for codes. I got an iCarsoft MB II scanner and scanned it. It allowed me to scan individual modules including the keyless go module.
I scanned everything I could, and the only fault that came up was with the Central Gateway Interior CAN bus, whatever that is.
"U118100 The front end CAN network management is unstable"
Is this related to the keyless go somehow? Google search didn't find me anything relevant.
I should add I have replaced the batteries in both keys, and one of the keys I can't get to work with keyless go at all anymore. Both keys will lock and unlock the car with the buttons (usually) fine. Sometimes I have to press the buttons multiple times for lock/unlock to work.
Both keys work fine with starting the car. What else can I try?
Thanks!
Car battery was changed a couple years ago. I think I'm on my third battery in my 8 years of ownership. I don't believe it's the battery causing this though. When the battery was weak, it would have trouble starting, or display the message "start vehicle" in the dash if I had the music on too long with the ignition off.
