Aftermarket Touchscreen Android Auto Success?

Aftermarket Touchscreen Android Auto Success?
Good day all. I fell in love with Android Auto when renting a car last week and now am desperate to upgrade the radio in my 2012 C350. There are a number of aftermarket Chinese products, some with great reviews, but I'm a bit scared of those. There is a Car and Driver standalone unit. And there's Alpine replacement radios. But $1,200 (except for the Car and Driver unit at half that) seems a little steep when I ask an installer about what they recommend. The Chinese stuff is $300 and seems like can be self-installed with some trouble. Does anyone have experience or recommendations with a good reliable unit they've installed or had installed that works as expected?
