Unhappy Squealing 2014 c300 $2800.00 for crank vent valve?

Hey guys new member. I have a 2014 c300 that starts to make a squealing noise after a few minute warm up. From what I have seen and read from various forums and videos the crankcase ventilation valve is faulty. The squealing stops after removing oil fill cap. Locate good rated garage quoted 3+days, and $2800.00. Watching a video it seemed like a pain but doable one day repair. Does anyone have any experience with this repair? Seems like you have to replace valve cover seals, and remove hi-pressure fuel pump when changing valve. Parts seem like $200.00 or so. Any and all info/help would great. I am on the fence over doing it myself or paying that much to have it done.

Your symptoms strongly indicate the crankcase vent valve.
I needed the car quickly so I didn’t do it myself. Two years ago that was a $600 one day job at an indie repair shop. This is not internal engine work. Try getting an estimate from another German car shop. This is not a repair that requires a dedicated MB specialist.

Hello OddPiggy, I also live in the Houston area. Could tell who you used, or recommend someone in Spring TX area that can do the work reasonably? Also who are you using for MB parts? Thanks for your info

I can recommend 2 reliable shops who are not cheap, but a lot less than the dealers:

Das European Autohaus
Spring Cypress Rd
281-235-5934

Bertini’s European Service Center
I-45 North
281-298-1115

For parts I shop around and have used Pelican Parts, mbonlineparts.com, MBOTW.com, MB of The Woodlands (the inside parts counter doesn’t match online prices, but they can get a tech to give advice when you need it), MB of Houston North. I also use eBay and Amazon but only buy what I know to be genuine MB parts there.

Let me know how this works out. I sure hope that prices haven't increased by 5x in the last 2 years.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if you had ever order parts from fcpeuro.com?

No. I know they’re out there and probably fine, but just have never had the occasion to order from them. I usually check the dealer parts counter price as a baseline. Then I look at the online sites run by dealers to see what discounts are offered. I’m close enough to one of those to pay a bit more because I can pick up and avoid delivery charges. I check the others I mentioned to see if I can get the same MB part for a bit less in reasonable time.

I have brought parts from FCP euro and Pelican parts both are equally good and no problem sending to New Zealand.
