Auto gearbox lumpy when cold
Hi all,
2014 W204 - when cold the car changes up through the gears very smooth but when slowing down and therefore changing down its very harsh - its quite a lurch as it changes. As soon as its warmed up (only 4 or 5 miles) then no problem at all and as smooth as expected.
Anybody had similar and found a solution ?
I should add the car has only covered 42000 miles and the gearbox was serviced earlier this year.

Not really a solution but it worked:
My 2013 C250 (93,000 miles - 149,000 km) started acting the same way about 30,000 miles ago. It would make a really harsh downshift at the stop at the end of my street. I find that if I let it sit idling for 2 minutes it drives off smoothly and shifts up and down without issue. Worth a try, it’s free.

I had that issue on a 5-speed and found the the gearbox was over-filled.
Took out about 300ml and fixed it.
Of course I haD a dip-stick......
