2011 Merc W204 Faulty Head Unit HDD??
Happened today while driving. Screen went into loop with Merc logo and couldn't go any further.
Have checked all related fuses (26, 81, 84) and they looked fine. Pulled out head unit to check if any of harnesses didn't get loose and all looked good as well...
My Head Unit is A204 900 62 03 ZGS:001 Q4.
Need help how to resolve this issue? Should I buy used working head unit with same part number (as above) from Ebay?
I know that there is 40GB HDD underneath. If buy another head unit with HDD from different car will the Radio , NAV , DVD, Bluetooth, Audio Aux etc. work again (plug and play)?
Or needs to be programmed through Engineering Menu or at the dealership through Star Diagnostic???
Any help highly appreciative especially from my wife's since it's her car

Little update... I've checked error codes with scanner and got DTC U014787 - "Communication with telematic gateway has a malfuncation. The message is missing"
So I've search WIS for a topic and came across X30/35 - "Telematics CAN Voltage distributor electrical connector" located on drivers side in kick panel.
Anyway, I've pulled kick panel plastic trim, carpet, wiggle wires in that connector and... it back to live! Now I know where the problem might be if it happens again.
Hope this will be helpful for some with similar problem. Good luck.

Very well done top marks for the diagnosis and completing your repair.
Can you please share what scanner you used and how do you get the WIS is this something I could down load or is there a yearly fee for it etc.

I've used iCasoft MBII scanner for Mercedes: https://www.icarsoft.com/Product/s-2...oft_mb_ii.html
and to get WIS, EPC etc you can get it from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/38367302342...gAAOSwy2tfNkF7
they have cheaper version with online download. If you decide to buy from Ebay pay attention to seller rating and reviews.

It boots without hdd, all basic functionality should work -> FM, settings, etc... Just NAVI and songs stored on the drive won't be there. When you remove it and problem goes away - you will know the culprit... Otherwise it might be something else...
