2012 C250 - No acceleration/power

I recently purchased a 2012 C250 that will be given to my grandson and several weeks ago the dreaded electronic steering lock gremlin hit. I replaced the ESL with an emulator and the car ran perfectly for a few days, but then one morning as I was going to use the car to run some errands, it started as usual but when I stepped on the accelerator...nothing. The car will only go about 5 miles an hour regardless of how hard the pedal is pushed. I'm assuming that it's in limp mode but I didn't get a check engine light for about 5 minutes and after shutting it off and restarting it, no more check engine light. I scanned for codes and there were none. My first thought was that it's the high pressure fuel pump so I ordered one and scheduled to have it replaced at an independent shop. I also decided to replace the accelerator pedal but that did nothing. So now the car is in the shop and I got a call today saying that there are no codes and the fuel pressure is fine. They're continuing to diagnose the problem but I thought I'd reach out to the forum to see if anyone has an idea of what might be going on. Any suggestions?

Hi
Just wondering if you have presses the speed limiter function of the cruse control, button is on the end of the cruise stalk?

I'll check this, but if it's a speed limiter, it limits the speed to about 3 MPH at full throttle!

It depends on how fast the vehicle was going when button pressed, when it happed to my wife she was turning out of our drive pressed button instead of the indicator stalk.

It started about 3 days after I replaced the electronic steering lock. The car starts and idles perfectly, but when I press on the accelerator, nothing happens. The car just creeps along.

I'm assuming that such a limiter is reset when you cycle the ignition, just like any other cruise control setting, so that doesn't seem like it could be the issue here.

My 2013 C250 doesn’t have a button on the end of the cruise control stalk.

Yes I do believe what you are saying is correct, I cannot test to confirm at the moment.

On my 2013 C250 if you have the cruise control set to a specific speed then cycle the ignition (for example, stop for gas), if you then select cruise control once the car is moving again it will select the previously set speed. One other observation, the cruise control will not set below 25 mph.

My mistake. It's my wife's vehicle that remembers the previous cruise control speed. The cruise speed is reset when the iginition is cycled. Also, the minimum cruise control speed is 20 mph.

We’ve gotten pretty far away from your original question. Is there any resolution on this issue?

I just posted a new thread on this. The dealership said it's a problem with the engine control module. It's being replaced tomorrow...fingers crossed!.
