There are a plenty of threads and videos showing how to access the crank position sensor (for the M272, it's at the back left side of the engine, right where the bellhousing meets the engine). However what isn't always mentioned is that the wire connector clip is very tricky and you can't see it while you're trying to undo it. So, I wanted to share a picture of what it looks like and how to disconnect it. The clip itself is light grey (the connector is black). To disconnect, it must first be pulled up (ie away from the direction that the sensor points). Once it clicks up, it can then be pressed in easily and the connector pops right off. If you just push in on the clip without it being up, it moves a little but wont release. I've attached a picture after disconnecting it, shown with the clip pulled upward and ready to easily be pressed in toward the connector. Then you can get your T30 Torx onto the screw holding the sensor in place.
