2012 MB c180 Radiator fan running Full, temp gauge not working

Hey all!

I just bought a 2012 c180, great car but had a problem on the drive home (2 hours in)

I noticed that the CEL came on and when I stopped at a traffic light the engine didn’t feel as smooth anymore. At the same time I noticed the radiator fan was extremely loud and the coolant temp gauge wasn’t reading anything, just sitting at the bottom.

When I got home I hooked up my OBD scanner (see picture)

Now my question is, is this just as simple as replacing the coolant temp sensor or am I going to have bigger problems?

The car has done 86k miles, 3 owners with full service history.

The fan will run at full speed if the ECU cannot determine the engine coolant temperature.
