I have found two part numbers for voltage regulators to replace the faulty unit on my 2012 C250. One of which is rated for 150 amps (004-154-27-06), and the other for 120 amps (004-154-28-06). Could somebody more knowledgeable about my car than myself please share which one I need to purchase?

Looks like it could be one of three possible regulators based on alternator part number (Valeo) and the options ordered with the vehicle.

Any clue as to how I could figure out which one fits my vehicle? Could I just replace the part with the 150 amp version without any harm?

I ran your VIN through one of the free VIN decoder web sites which shows your vehicle has options 802 & 910. That would mean the third voltage regulator on the list, A 004 154 26 06, is the correct one for your vehicle. It might still be wise to check with the dealer in case there is an updated part number.
