M271 CGI Timming Chain Tensioner Activation

Hows it guys

Can anyone assist me with the timing chain tensioner activation on a 2011 w204 C200 CGI engine. After checking all timing marks are set and after installing the tensioner must i rotate the engine anticlockwise in order to activate the tensioner? Or is straight forward like the w203 m271 tensioner? If not must i hold the intake gear with the t100 torx socket while rotating the crankshaft anticlockwise to activate the tensioner?

Thanks in advance

You have to rotate the engine counter to the normal rotation to release the tensioner piston. As the chain is still "slack" prior to the piston extending, it's possible the chain can skip unless the intake camshaft is held in position. You just have to remove the intake camshaft solenoid and use the T100 Torx socket to hold the camshaft while counter-rotating (anti-clockwise) the crankshaft to release the tensioner piston. You'll hear a click which is the piston releasing then, when you release the pressure on the crankshaft, you will hear the ratcheting of the extending piston.
