was recently cleaning my egr valves and noticed a crack. I have a slight rough idle and can faintly smell gas/exhaust in the area of my egr. Could this crack be the reason for it? I’m putting the cleaned valves back on right now and will see if just cleaning helped. Just curious if the crack can run me into any trouble. I recently passed emissions and have no check engine either.
Rough idle, fuel smell suggests YES, an EGR or 2nd air injection problem with your crack the reason, no ? Frugal bugger that I am, I would first try cleaning defect area with acetone/brake cleaner, scuff up with wire brush or coarse grit, apply JB Weld to crack area, a bit in fissure, and then gently compress crack in vise til approximated and let dry 24 hours plus. New unit price varys..MB wants $280 or so for one.
