2011 Mercedes C300 4matic Luxury
Please Help! SOS URGENT
I currently own a 2011 Mercedes C300 4Matic Luxury and about a week and a half ago it would not start. It was towed to a repair shop and determined that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. However after ordering the part from Mercedes before Thanksgiving, Mercedes is now refusing to sell the certified auto repair shop the part. Does anyone know where I could find an ignition switch that is still OEM or close?? Please help!!! This is a very urgent matter. I normally bought most of my parts on ECS tuning but the switch is on backorder for at least a month.

EIS replacement is usually a dealer service because it is part of the DAS (drive authorization system). Only a few legacy shops are certified to do this.
A work around would be to get a salvaged EIS from another W204 and reset the ECU (identity wipe, set to “new” mode, recode to DAS components) to recognize the new EIS. The shop would need to have the equipment and expertise to do this.

Had the same issue on a previously owned 2011 C300, but my repair shop had no problem purchasing the part.
I would go to the dealer myself and purchase the part over their parts counter, then hand it to your repair shop.

That will work unless they are back ordered, too. BTW unless you’re sure MBUSA has you in the system as the owner, be prepared to show your registration or insurance certificate. They won’t sell “owner integrity” parts to just anyone and won’t sell them online.
