I’m having trouble removing the rear brake caliper bracket mount top 18mm bolt. Due to the sway bar, can’t fit a socket there. Using a 18mm wrench and also tapping it with a hammer did not loosen it at all. I’ve sprayed some pb blaster on it. I’ve tried a breaker bar and multiple techniques with tools and doesn’t seem to work. Advice would be appreciated!
If you can’t get a socket on it, how did you use a breaker bar?
There’s always Kroil, S’OK, and Marvel Mystery Oil penetrants to try. They’re all mostly the same but a little different.
Since the PBBlaster has had overnight to penetrate, try it again.
Tapping with hammer? Those 18mm bracket bolts can be impact wrench tight. If your 18mm wrench has a 6 point box, put a cheater pipe on it, hold as much force on it as you can with one hand and hit the bracket HARD with a big mechanic’s hammer. I keep a 4 pound maul for things like this.
