Question Tire Question Please...

Hey All,
So Im sort of stuck and I wanted to get your opinion on what's the best approach..
I have 2012 C300 4matic sport
I purchased Pirelli P7 All Season Plus 3 tires 94H for the front 225/45/17
Upon replacement (original Khumo Ecsta tires that were on it were GONE, Alignment was off..)
My back Tires are 245/40/17 and I cant Find Pirelli All Season p3 tires this size so I'm sort of stuck, I'm being told all 4 tires have to the same brand and tread design.
My current back ones are still Khumo Ecsta but ill need to replace those just dont know what tires to get to match the front.?? (P zero Y rated?) (Cinturato P7 91W)? Those are only available ones I see. Its waste of $ to get 4 new tires now and discard the P7 tires I just put on :-/

Thanks in advance!

If you are not an aggressive driver, you won't notice putting 225/45-17's on the back too like the C 300 Luxury comes stock so that's one possible solution. 15 mm total tread width gain with 245's won"t be a deal breaker, particularly going from your present tire to the Pirelli top of the liner's.

I put that size all around on my staggered C300 4Matic when I switch to Nokians for winter.
May give you a more compliant ride with higher profile in back

One idea...

Thanks Gamma300c,
I'm not an aggressive driver at all just want something nice and quality.
since this is more complicated than I thought, I was wondering if it will be ok to just get the Pirelli P zero All Season Plus 245/40R17 91Y tire for the back and call it a day..
or is there too much mixing and matching going on with different tread pattern and 91Y in back and 94H in front ?

There is possibly a difference in grip between the 2 Pirelli's but wouldn't be felt until you push both towards their full potential. Your 4Matic system is pretty sophisticated and would mitigate any adhesion differences, again only being needed if the car was being driven at limit. When was the last time you saw the flashing yellow triangle saying your 4Matic system and ETS was at or over it's limits to compensate for traction/adhesion problems ?

I would not have a problem running the PZero's on the back with the A/S +3 up front. Interesting Pirelli like Michelin uses the same A/S +3 naming. Lots of different model Kumho Ecsta's so you might be going from their mid range non UHP tire to your top feeder Pirellis where all you will notice is how much improved l handling parameters are !!

awesome! thanks for your information. I assumed it shouldn't be such big deal its just when you are told you need 4 exact same tires/treat and such but cant really find one same brand different sizes it makes it :-/
. also I was reading maybe it would mess up transmission by driving on different tires.. makes you wonder...
I think I should just order the P zero Y rated tires for the back and should be good to go...

The main caveat for AWD vehicles is to have all 4 tire's rolling circumference within 3% of each other.
Enjoy your Pirelli's .
