Hi all, I'm new here this is my first post.
I have a few small issues with my 2008 S204 (w204 estate) and this is the one I'd like to resolve first.
Before I bought my car the previous owner drove it into a bollard and had the front bumper replaced.
The car did have factory parking sensors front and rear but the replacement bumper, along with being painted very badly, was not fitted with parking sensors.
So currently none of the sensors work and the system is deactivated via the button on the dash.
I know the sensor locations are marked on the inside of the bumper, and I have purchased the sensor loom and new sensors.
I have also located the plug for the new loom to connect to, near the driver side headlight.
I have found a body work specialist who would be able to paint the sensors, repaint the bumper and refit everything....
The problem is, I've tested the sensors & loom and can't seem to get any of the sensors working. I have a code reader which usually tells me sensors 1-6 are faulty (the front ones).
When I connect it all up, the errors change slightly but the readings from the sensors don't change even if I reverse right up to my house.
Is there a way of resetting, or recalibrating the Parktronic system?
I'm holding off getting it all done in case there are other underlying issues such as a faulty control unit but would expect a specific error code for that.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The car has just passed 100K miles but runs like a dream and is very quiet on the motorway so I'd like to hang on to it for as long as is realistic.
(The code reader I'm using is an iCarsoft MB V2.0, I do not have access to Star unless I pay the local dealer)
