Breather hose

If the breather hose in the center of the image blocked by the screw when tightened, would it be the cause of the engine getting extremely hot while temperature is normal
what is the benefit of the hose if the end of it blocked by a screw

Define "really hot". What is your baseline?

I was wondering the same when I first saw the picture and the video. I see the screw also hold that part in place but was not sure how it works with a screw going through it????

From the IPC that screw should be a bolt that would allow airflow: N000000003515
Bodge by the previous owner I think

When I replaced the same hose few months ago, I questioned myself about screw and thought I had misplaced the right screw. So, I went to a MB dealer in my area and ordered a new one. The service guy pulled up the diagram on screen and I ordered one, it was about $9.00, they did not have it in stock so I waited and when I got the screw it was same as the pictured here above.
So, I asked my European shop where I usually take my car, he said it the banjo bolt concept and don't worry, lol.

Your European shop mechanic is correct. The end of the vacuum hose has a banjo-type fitting (see red circle). The diameter of the fitting is larger than the screw which passes through it and attaches to the cylinder head cover. This allows the air to flow from the inside of the cylinder head cover, through the hose, to the other end of the hose attached to the intake manifold. Simple but clever.
