C220 Facelift Bad Parking Brake and Washer Jets/pump
Hello everyone,
Had my car in for an MOT today and it failed on a parking brake that is binding and not releasing properly, and either the jet or pump for windscreen cleaner isn't working as not enough of the cleaning fluid is being sprayed onto the windscreen.
How much roughly should this cost to fix on a C220 facelift model 2014-15? Local garage I went to said they'd have to order new cables for the parking brake, and then take off the front wheel and part of the front panel to access the windscreen pump or motor or whatever needs changing.
Thanks

Not sure about UK rules after inspection results in faults. Are you required to provide repair receipts from professional facilities? If so, you’ll need input on costs from someone in the UK.
If not, you may be able the remedy yourself.
A binding parking brake is often just the brake foot lever and cable needing lubrication. Search this forum and YouTube for binding parking brakes.
On the windshield washer, it may be the nozzle jets clogged with debris, corroded, or covered with mold. Go under the hood and pull off the lines to the nozzles. Then run the sprayer. If the steam is strong then the nozzles either need cleaning or replacing. If not, it’s the pump.
Good luck.

+1 on the above. As for the washer nozzles, also check for a leak or back siphoning. For back siphoning, you can buy a check valve on Amazon to keep purging and pressure
