Rubbing issue after lowering rear on facelift 4matic

I lowered the rear end with Brabus springs and 9mm spring pads. Total drop is somewhere between 1.25 -
1.5 inches. My tire/wheel combo was 245/40/18 on 18x8.5 inch wheels. Offset:
Front ET45
Rear ET 40

I was not surprised by the rubbing up front but never expected rubbing in the rear, given that I've read of people running 255's and 265's on offsets of up to ET 35.

I downgraded the tires to 235/40/18 which seems to have taken care of all the rubbing but I would love to have a little more meat in the back for a more flush stance.

What gives? Any suggestions?

Subject vehicle is a 2013 C300 4matic sport Here's some pics of both tire setups

I believe the ratio on those "meatier" rear tires were 35 or 30.

Going from 245/40/18 to 265/35/18, will it be enough to prevent rubbing on the rear fender lip with my setup?

You'd have to match the diameters on a 4Matic...225/40-18 fronts and 255/35-18 is the most common set up. Getting UHP top end tires will give all the handling/braking performance your C300 can use in those sizes without rubbing, bottoming out, or being ultra prone to pot hole damage to the tires or rims., plus a compliant ride. A "Search" will give other ET,size set ups but IMHO 18"s fill the bill in all categories best, including cost. I have used DOT 100 wear rated performance tires here in NC with track like handling in the dry and light rain. My goal doesn't give preference to stance however as you can see.

Yes make sure your diameters are close, as you can damage your transfer case if too different between front and rear.

I think I was 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 at +42/+50 however stock height as well

That's what I should have gotten to begin with but now I'm $2K in tires in a week and not really feeling like dropping another $1K for a third set.

So I can try to squeeze the 265's in the rear (which are less than 1% difference in circumference than the fronts), or live with the 235/40/18 square setup until they wear out
