Time to say good bye

Guys....With deep sadness It's time to say good bye to the W204 platform. The most reliable best car I've owned was officially totalled....The damages amounted to $16,000. I need to figure out what's next. I do need something with more room, so maybe this was meant to be.

I was looking at a W212 2010-2013 the 2014 are nice with the newer body style but the prices go up from there. I would love wagon even though air matic is an issue.
2012-2015 ML 350 4 Matic gas version only concern is air matic rear suspension
or a big change with a 2018-2019 Honda accord sport don't have a clue on what the issues could be.

what do you guys think the next move should be? I need more of a full sized sedan.

Man my guy, how does this happen to both of us almost at the same time D: after so many years!

Maybe you saw my build thread but I bought mine back from insurance and hope to build it back. While I've shopped around for many facelift w204's (not a fan of w205 2.0 engine - piston issues), they really don't seem to have been cared for. Plus the market sucks of course.

Any pics of the damage? Perhaps you could save yours too.

This place is a joke.
GLE/ML350. Spring suspension is standard. Avoid the V8 550. If you get hit hard in any Japanese or Korean sedan you're dead.

Lol I know it was an option but both head lights were gone rain got in them, radiator, fan, ac condensor all the headligh brackets and supports got crunched. No air bags went off. No one was hurt. They wanted 3.5k for the car I got a good pay out enough to buy another w204 with 50,000km less than I had lol. I just need something bigger

I saw that just today bad luck on both ends lol!!

It's going to be hard to drive anything else once you drive a benz

I agree with your statement lol.

I'd like a ml350 4 m gas version. Or a 2015 e400 4m... reality they price of 2012 or 2013 e350 4m is around 14k in my area with 150-170km pretty solid car for 14k with all options and easy to work on.

I know this is heresy in this forum, but IFF you are willing to go outside Mercedes, AND IFF you’re looking for something more wagon-like, AND IFF you would consider an ML/GLE, then a 2016 Cadillac SRX or 2017 Cadillac XT5 could be something to consider. But if you consider either one, you must get only the 3.6 L V6. The SRX evolved into the XT5 much like the ML evolved into the GLE. They are crossovers and generally drive car-like. They are not ponderous beasts like the full size GM SUVs. They are also usually equipped with options that a Mercedes owner is used to. While the chassis is used for other GM crossovers, the steering and noise insulation make a world of difference. The size, weight, pricing and specs are similar (XT5 is FWD when not AWD) to the 2015 ML350.
Personally I would try to find the ML350 first, but would consider the SRX/XT5 if I couldn’t find one.

Aw man that's an easy fix! Now that I've taken it apart it's literally a few screws per bracket, peeling back fender liner, and radiator removal is easy too. You don't even need a new bumper :P

They wanted 3900 for the buy back with the remaining amount given it wad better to just get a nice chunk of cash and move on. Oem headlights plus programing and the modules was majority of the cost of repair.

Same here.
We bought a 2021 GLB250 after her GLK was totaled. Insurance wasn’t even close to that cost, but we really needed to go up to 7 seats. The fabled 7 seat GLE wasn’t anywhere to be found and GLS was out of the question for many reasons.
There seem to be plenty of W166 ML 350s in the $15k-$22k range.

the only issue is the w166 ml350s are all 200,000km milage for 15-18k there's about 100 diesel ones for sale lol. I need to research why people are dropping those. I'd prefer gas obviously. My guess is the diesel emissions is expensive when it fails.
