Transmission slipping

Hello, help please 🙏
I have 2012 c250 I did a transmission oil change with filter. Topped off the oil as it should be using the blue color transmission fluid. Now the car does not drive at all. The car accelerate, but transmission is slipping. Got a check engine light and scanner says "gear 1 is implausible or transmission is slipping". Is there something I'm missing ?

The more likely reason in your scenario is that the trans fluid is still low...are you sure the refill amount is correct ? How did you confirm ?

I topped it off, waited until fluid started coming out the Trans pan. I will double check.

Sounds like you did it OK..I"m sure you let ATF warm up to ? 140 F. If it was me I'd repeat the aggravation of getting the car up and level with trans warmed up and pop drain plug to see if there's still a slow drip. I believe there are different tubes on top of drain plug for different years, models...double check you got the right one..same length as old one you replaced? No chance it got dislodged during reassembly or fill, right ?

Was the engine running when you checked it? Also, I don't know how you topped it off and "waited" until the fluid came out when the overflow port is the same as the fill port.

I don't think it dislodge, but I will do it again. Also I did it with the car off not on. So my understanding is warm up the car and check the fluids ?

Oh my...yes with engine running and trans fluid "at proper" temperature. There are several good YouTube video's that give the correct procedure..C300 MB is same general steps. Thermal temp "guns" are pretty inexpensive and aimed at the bottom of trans pan will give a decent temp. reading, Your iSoft should give trans temp, no ? ...MB uses the STAR scan to get that data.

Hold off on other check area, i.e. the drain inner tube and recheck running, warmed...pretty certain you'll be needing to add fluid.

Thank you guys so much, yes! It was missing almost 5qts of fluid. I'm such an idiot almost blew my tranny, but hey we live and learn. Thanks again.
I did add approx 2.5 qts, and then started veh and added an additional approx 2.6 qts until fluid dripped out. Cleaned everything up took car for test drive and car flew with very low gas throttle happy to be on the road again.

Great to hear..credit to you attempting this messy maintenance job on your own in the first place.
Check out the Web, YouTube, FCPEuro and a myriad of DIY MB posts for other project instructions as needed in the future.

Cheers!

general question, If you were to measure the volume of the drained old transmission oil, could you go about and fill in the exact same volume of new fluid without ever having to check the temperature and checking for fluid drip?

I don’t think so. Even if the fluid out and the fluid in were at the same temperature, some amount would be lost in the filter, from drips, and in pan clean up. The transmission oil level is much more critical than the engine oil fill.
Most people start with the volume drained to get an idea of how much should go back in.
I think the procedure is written the way it is for a reason.

I don't think so, the amount of old fluid did not match the amount of new fluid put in.

Did you use the correct fluid? Was the stuff coming out blue?

Out of curiosity, did you drain the torque converter as well?

I changed mine on my 2009 C300 a few months back & almost lost my mind w/ how slow the torque converter drained; felt like it took forever lol

Any specific reason for this decision? Curious.
