Mercedes C Class 2011 Diesel 2.1 Automatic
Mercedes Benz C Class 2011 Coupe Automatic Screeching Noise

Hi everyone,

I have a Mercedes C Class 2011 Diesel 2.1 Automatic & it is making a screeching noise when accelerating at lowee speeds. I also seem to be having accelerating issues sometimes it's fine then other times I put my foot down and the revs will go up but the speedo goes up really slow, its seems to be really inconsistent. Anybody have any ideas as what it could be?

There is no warning lights on the dashboard and nothing comes up on the scanner.

I have uploaded a video to YouTube off the noise. Mercedes C Class Screeching Noise. Anybody know what it is?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like your torque converter is slipping. I would first check the transmission (gearbox) fluid level. Do you know when the fluid and filter were last changed? If you don't know or the mileage has exceeded the recommended change interval, I would change the fluid and filter.

Thanks for that. I will look into getting the transmission serviced ASAP then. I thought it sounded like an air leak.

I don't know the specifics of your engine/transmission combination, but if the engine RPMs increase and the road speed does not, then the link between the two is the issue, which is the torque converter in this case. There may be a vacuum connection to the transmission. I would recommend verifying that the shop where you take the car is familiar with your vehicle.

I know that the gearbox is a 7 speed. It is a 2.1 Diesel.

Vin Number is WDD2043022F753763

I am taking it to a gearbox specialist as I have had the car scanned and there was no faults that came up.

The Gearbox specialists said they will scan the car for me for free so if nothing comes up I will ask if they can take it for a test drive. I will service the gearbox regardless as I don't know when it was last serviced so would like to get it done anyway.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I'm taking it to a transmission specialist tomorrow they said they will scan the car and take it for a short test drive.

It is a 2.1 Diesel with a 7 speed Gearbox. I will keep you updated.

Cheers
