Newby here, please be kind.
Not overly mechanically minded but I have a have a go attitude!
Previously owned landrover so had to learn a bit to keep them on the road.
Anyhow
Fairly new purchase of a 2010 c220 cdi and having time to have a look around the engine I noticed this, can anyone shed any light as to where this hose is supposed to connect too or is the blanking plate the original other end? All or any help greatly appreciated.

Drives ok, has lacked power but that was down to a semi clogged dpf, I know the previous owner only drove short journeys!
cleaned dpf hence the finding of the hose.
See how I go and will post my findings
So after having another look this hose comes from the point shown in the photo.
Sorry for my ignorance but I have no idea what it is! Haha The other end of this hose is not connected to anything as shown in previous photo.

Circle where about that area is on this photo. Or take a few more photos not so close up. All im going to do is try to compare it to other photos to narrow down what it could be. I have no idea just looking at that close up photo. Also are you sure its that hose? I ask because in the 1st photo you posted with it circled that sleeve looks like a large grey one, but the phot you just posted it looks like the sleeve is smaller and black.
Is there a hose in the sleeve? What happens if you try and pull on it?
It looks like the area you circled is connected properly.
The hose that is not connected is on top of those two hoses, see how it is not clipped down?
I drew in what the disconnected hose looks like its doing in red. I dont think it belongs there, it should be routed another way. Ill search around to see what that other disconnected part is. That could be it. Does the disconnected hose reach to it, it may have to be routed another way. I dont see that hose in other photos im findings.
It could fit if it's re directed, funny how, when I took the cover off it was just placed there?
The previous owner had it serviced not too long ago, maybe just maybe the mechanic placed it there to remind himself to reconnect and simply forgot, replaced cover and walked away for lunch... I've seen it happen.
Don't want to connect just yet incase it's the wrong point.
