2013 C 350 aftermarket audio

Hello everyone,

I have searched around but can't really find much. Has anyone done any kind of aftermarket audio to their W204s? I am referring to possible changing the head unit which would then add RCAs so you can run amps with new speakers and subs etc. I currently have a 2013 C350 with the Harman Kardon system but I am looking to change the headunit and speakers if I can.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't come across many people installing aftermarket systems in this car, but I haven't really looked either. When I first got mine I started to look into it and came to the conclusion its not that easy and will be expensive. Just the speakers is a project, they dont seem to be a standard size or install, I think they are riveted in. In all my previous cars I installed new head units, amps, speakers and sub box but not this car.

ive read that the stock head unit and amp is actually pretty good, its the speakers that need an upgrade. heres a thread on that.

Heres a good thread I found interesting. Its for earlier models but still useful.

A CarPlay add-on is worth considering. The Road Top unit vastly improved sound quality in my R231. The benefit is that there is no need to swap out any other components. And there's lots of youtube videos on how to do it. I am reluctant to make any changes to original equipment that is integrated with so much more. However, this add-on works nicely. Read more here:

Thanks for the info guys.

I also have switched out audio systems in my previous cars and I wanted to do it for this one as well but I guess not.

I will look into that CarPlay add on, thank you.

If you go with the Road Top CarPlay unit, you will need to remove the current headunit, connect cables, and reinstall it. The best place to put the multiplexer is in the glove box (more space, no cramping behind the head unit, easy to get to to troubleshoot or update) and punch a hole in the inside of the glovebox for the cables.

This video is of an E-Class install, but the steps are pretty much the same:

There is quite a bit on YouTube on this subject. Most people pick up an Android head unit that looks similar to the w205s see here - https://dmpcardes********/product/facelift-android-widescreen-touch-screen-w204-pre-facelift/

Ive done the install and it’s not too hard. Here’s a good video that shows how it’s done - https://youtu.be/VFpsHLhEZp0?si=rIWopDdbqFSNh6q7

My unit doesn’t have RCA’s so I’m getting a Line Out Converter to connect aftermarket speakers and subs. The speaker sizes are 6.5” in the front and rear and you purchase spacers to fit the car. Here’s a couple videos on the install:

* Front speakers -
* Rear speakers -
* Sub -

You should also buy the wire harnesses for the doors so you can just plug-in the speakers. As you need to remove the door panels to install the speakers, check out this ambient light kit - https://dmpcardes********/product/am...-c-class-copy/

I installed it in my c200 and it’s really easy to connect while the panels are off for the speakers. Good luck!
