Rain AUTO not working Light Sensor A2049017801 "Coding before using"??

Like many other Merc owners, I am getting the "Auto light not working" message on the screen and cannot sell this car like that. Aliexpress is selling this light/rain sensor unit very cheeeply at AUS$28.87, so not too much money lost here compared to the price stealerships are charging and Youtube is full of 20 min. repair videos, which even this genius feels competent to do.

Problem: Aliexpress worries me with the message: "need to do coding before using" and OPs have suggested dealers "calibrate" this unit after installation? Can I do that with my iCarsoft diagnostic? May cost me $300 at a dealer and they may not even want to work on on a Chinese knock off?

Reminds me of a recent post on the light sensor. They bought the wrong one at first, plug was different. So make sure you look at the one you have installed for the right part number if you haven't already.

They said they ended up needing it scanned with an MB scanner, im assuming the one at Mercedes dealer. Cant you try it with your scanner now, see what options its giving you to perform?

Can always buy a used sensor off eBay.

If the sensor from Aliexpress is already installed when you bring it to the Mercedes dealer its not like they are going to take it out to look at it before hand, they will just hook up the scanner and try to get it to work.
