Persistent Power Steering and ABS Failure Warnings
Hi,
I keep getting power steering and ABS failure warnings popping up. I looked up a YouTube video that suggested I could reset it by turning my steering wheel all the way to the left, then the right, and then back to center. This seemed to fix the issue temporarily, but the warnings have started to appear again. Has anyone experienced this kind of persistent warning, and if so, do they know what could be causing it?
The car is a 2010 C300 W204 and it has 140K miles on it.
When ABS and power steering errors show up together, sometimes it’s a failing wheel speed sensor or corroded reluctor ring (the thing that sends pulses to the wheel speed sensor).
There are probably other things that independently could cause either to send a warning, too.
I suggest scanning the car for diagnostic codes with a scan tool that can read all systems, not just powertrain codes.
