I noticed grease leaking out of the passenger side cv axle outer boot. I was looking to replace the entire axle until i researched a bit and it doesnt look that hard to just replace the boot itself. Figured I would start a thread as I go along and do the work.
First hurdle was tracking down the parts. I prefer to use Mercedes parts but the front axle diagram i have only shows the part # for the entire kits for that side which is very expensive from Mercedes since it includes the hub part, which I dont need. I ended up finding the S class axles use the same inner and outer boots and those diagrams do list the separate part #'s. I was able to get the boot, clamps and snap clip at my local MB dealer for $16.36 and the parts were in stock. I dont need the inner boot but will list those part #'s also if someone needs them.
- Boot part# 2213370085 $14.00
- Large clamp (80mm) part# 0089976590 $6.50
- Small clamp (34.5mm) part# 0069975990 $1.70
- Snap ring part# 2039942035 $2.20
Not sure what the circlip part# is, im sure the old one can be re-used.
The Mercedes clamps are Oetiker brand which are easy to track down. Sizes listed above.

W221 Diagrams I got the part #'s from. The boot kit part #'s are the same in my W204 parts diagrams.
My outer boot has a tiny leak. I think I damaged it when i was replacing the struts 2yrs ago. Think i dropped the strut and the bottom edge pinched the boot. Hole is so small i cant find an opening it it. The heat and pressure inside the boot must be pushing grease out.
Have to get some grease now. The Mercedes grease seems expensive. Might just go with GKN from FCP unless i can track some down locally.
While waiting I peeked in the garage and looks like someone is having the subframe replaced.
My entire rear axles look very beat and rusted. Along with the boots there is also a metal collar that looks like a pain to replace. I think i'm just going to keep my eyes open for a set of used axles in good condition.
When i replaced my springs I noticed the spring control arms are rusted so i want to replace those also. I doubt I really need to but i came across used ones for really cheap in good condition. When I needed to replace a parking brake cable and dust shield i came across an entire drivers side wheel carrier very cheap to take the parts from, now I have all these parts in much better condition than whats under my car. Figure ill do all the work at once, get a new wheel bearing pressed in and have everything ready. Then just replace the wheel carrier-spring arm-axle at the same time. Not sure i'll replace the upper control arms since that involves lowering the subframe.
