C350e New Windshield

My windshield was replaced this afternoon and I noticed an air pocket (see picture) near the top of the windshield (in front of the camera or sensor?). Will that air pocket impact any of the features of the car? Do I have to ask the company to fix it? Appreciate your help

Contact the company that installed it and forward them the photo. It does look odd.

Thanks. I will reach out to them. Do you know what those three circles are - camera, any distance sensor, or...? Thanks

That is where the rain and light sensor is mounted. If it is interfering with the sensor im guessing you will have issues with the auto lights and dimming, also if you have rain sensing wiper feature.

I never messed with the windshield or sensor so wasnt sure what it looks like in there. I found an article on how to remove the sensor which shows a lens that stays glued to the windshield. Did the windshield come with that lens already glued on, or did the installer remove your old one and stick it on the new windshield?

Heres the article with photos: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...eplacement.htm

The installer should also have calibrated the camera to work with Lane Keep Assist, etc. While I do think they should fix it, it's more important that the cameras work properly.

Thank you. That makes sense. I don't have lane keep assist. That said, I'm sure it is the rain sensor and light sensor. The company will be coming back on Friday to take a look at it.

Thanks for your response. The windshield came with the plastic housing. I'm sure it is kind of slide in. I will know on Friday.

How do i check to make sure the sensor works? Can I spray some water to see whether the windshield wiper comes on?

Im not 100% sure but I believe the sensor is responsible for turning the headlights on when they are on the Auto setting. I leave my headlight switch on Auto and the headlights and tailights automatically come on when its getting dark or driving thru a tunnel.

Its also the rain sensor if your car has rain sensing wipers. I dont think my car has it, ive never seen the wipers automatically come on. It works by basically light reflecting back t the sensor when there is water on the windshield.

Thanks for your feedback, everyone. The guy showed up, set the windshield wiper to auto, sprayed some water and the wiper came on automagically. It's a good news. I did not check the auto lights. I will do it tomorrow to confirm. Thanks again for your feedback.
