What is this AC / vent sound? (2010 c300)
I hear this sound (see video) when the AC is going...
The AC is working, so don't know if it's a refrigerant issue

Only when the ac is on? Not when the heat is on?
When the ac is running do you see water dripping down onto the ground from somewhere?
Have you had any work done to the car lately, anything?

Was this while the engine running ac on?
Was it after running and you just turned it off?
More specific info like that because the car behaves different thru instances like weather is been running or not and weather or not you open the door or not. So get specific and maybe we can give a good guess what it actually is.

could a blocked drain hose cause the sound? I'll have a poke around and see if I can snake something up the drain hose this weekend
This sound has been happening for a year or more, so no recent work caused it

Yes only when the engine and AC are on does the sound happen

If you don't have water dripping under the car with the ac running then yes the house is plugged. Try blowing some air from the bottom off the house back inside the car to clear the blockages. You should get allot of water.
Then it's just my 2cents but I would pull the two covers that are above where your feet sit to expose the undersides of the dash and put a coke electric fans blowing air up there fire a day or so.
Water issues are a huge problem to diagnose and repair.
