2 W204's. Both with the same issue.
The Electronic Steering Lock fails. 100% of the time. And always at the most inopportune time!
Buy a cheap ESL emulator off of eBay and put it on. Gets rid of the useless steering lock. No more issues!

It sounds like your C220 might be experiencing an issue with the ignition switch or possibly a failure in the electronic ignition system. Given that the battery is fully charged and the central locking system is functioning, it indicates that the basic electrical supply is intact. However, the absence of ignition lights and the inability to start could be due to a faulty ignition switch, a problem with the electronic steering lock, or an issue with the Vehicle Anti-Theft (ESL) system. It could also be a problem with the fusible link or a main relay that's failing to engage. It's crucial to rule out any loose connections, especially in the engine bay, that might be preventing the system from powering up fully. To further diagnose the problem, I recommend scanning the car for fault codes from the Central Gateway Module (CGW) and the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS) module. These modules can reveal any stored errors related to the ignition system and immobilizer. A full system scanner like youcanic will be invaluable here as it can read all control modules, unlike a basic code reader. If you use a simple OBD2 scanner, like the Autel AutoLink AL319, you'll miss these vital areas since it primarily targets engine fault codes. Before proceeding, have you checked the fuses related to the ignition system? They might have been overlooked but could be the key to solving this problem.
