New Purchaser!
I’ve been posting on here for a few weeks looking for advice on my first MB, and I finally pulled the trigger on one yesterday. I put a deposit down on a 2008 C300 4Matic, pending the car gets the repairs it needs. It has a new MB battery, plugs and coils, wipers, all season tires, pads and rotors, front suspension was all redone as well as the rear control arms, and fluid changes done on time it’s whole life.
I am buying the car with the contingency that the current owner get two new genuine mercedes front axles installed, as well as get the car to pass state inspection before the final sale (didn’t pass due to the axles). The car has 177k miles but has been meticulously maintained and is in absolutely BEAUTIFUL shape. Paint is flawless, interior is flawless besides some button finish wear on the driver side door locks and windows (I plan to replace with new ones just to make it cleaner). I managed to negotiate the price from $5500 USD as-is to $4000 with the work done to it as well.
I’m very excited to be picking it up here in a few days, and I am a DIY’er as well. Any maintenance tips on these? What sort of schedule should I be adhering to for all fluids? I appreciate any advice and I will attach a few photos for all curious to see!

For all fluids stick with what MB recommends. They don’t have to be MB brand. Approved engine oils have the exact statement MB Approval 229.5 (for example, but I think that’s the sheet you will follow). Search for “Mercedes BeVo” for the recommended fluids lists.
Transmission fluid change is maximum of either 40k or 60k miles from last change depending on your year and equipment. Check the service records. If you have the original owners manual package there should be a maintenance booklet included which shows recommended extended service requirements.
I don’t have mine any more, but many if the members still have this model.
If you are a DIYer, you WILL NEED a Mercedes-specific scan tool AND the electronic shop manual, referred to as WIS or WIS/ASRA. The best source for what you will need is @BenzNinja or www.benzninja.com. In the meantime, a good portable scanner is the LAUNCH Creader Elite 2.0 BENZ for about $160 on Amazon. Ultimately, you will want XENTRY for serious diagnostics and repair, also from @BenzNinja , who will also provide hands-on diagnostics support remotely when you need it.

If i needed a Mercedes obd scanner I would probably buy one of the the launch Creader units. Aliexpress has them for under $90 right now, or Amazon has good prices.
Since its over 155,000 miles you can get a free Mercedes High Mileage award and grill badge. Just print and fill out the form, have someone at your local MB dealer sign it then email it in. Should get it in a month or two.
