Innovited 35w Can-Bus HIDs- Ballast Malfunction

Having an issue with one of my aftermarket HID ballasts and not finding much info online plus I just find it interesting.

Bought and installed the Innovited HID kit about 4yrs ago Jan 2021. Everything was great, simple plug-n-play except I didnt like the bulbs it came with. Looked like there were large dark shadows on the road ahead so i went and installed a set of Morimoto XB H7-B bulbs which solved that issue.

Lights were fine until last month which coincidently was when my yearly car inspection was due. One night I started the car and noticed the drivers side light took a little longer to turn on. Later i was leaving a store and the low beam bulb out warning popped up, the light wasnt even on which I didnt really notice at first. I figured maybe the bulb was bad so i replaced it with another bulb i had laying around and it didnt turn on, until i went and wiggled the wires around then it came on. Figured the ballast unit was going bad so i ordered two new ballasts for $48. Wouldnt be delivered for a few days so put the old bulb back in. The lights ended up working fine the rest of the week, I was even thinking of returning the new ballasts when they come in. Stopped in to get my car inspected praying the lights worked and sure enough they did, i watched as they did the inspection and the headlights were both on and I got a sticker. Oddly enough when I get in the car to leave the shop the low beam out message popped up. So when I got home I swapped out the ballast and its been working fine since. The passenger side ballast is working fine so ill wait to install the new one until something goes wrong.

Figured why not open up the old ballast and try to see what may be wrong. Surprised to see everything looks pretty well potted. No burnt wires or anything that looks out of place. Not looking to try and fix it , wouldnt know where to start. Just thought it looked interesting inside to see how its made. In previous cars I had xentec brand and those things were always failing, inside they were just exposed boards and everything looked all corroded probably from water getting in.

Is an aftermarket ballast going bad after 4yrs good or bad? For the low cost im not too worried I guess. Would have liked to see them last longer than the bulbs though.

I think with these Innovited the blue box is the can-bus/error canceller, then the metal box is obviously the ballast, and the black box is the ignitor. Old ballast had black wires, new ones have different looking wires like the Morimoto bulbs have.
