Message: Take your key from ignition
Hello, I’m new to the Mercedes world and recently bought a 2011 W204 C250 4MATIC.
I got a message on the dash saying: “Take your key from ignition.”
I’ve read a lot of topics about this issue, and most suggest it’s related to the ESL/EIS system. However, in my case, the message appeared right after I changed the batteries(may be just coincidence ) in both of my key fobs.
I’m hoping it’s just a connection issue between the car and the keys. One strange thing I noticed is that the message doesn’t show up if the key is inserted while I’m in the passenger seat, but it does when I’m in the driver’s seat.
Additionally, after changing the batteries, neither key fob could unlock the doors at first.
One of them started working the next day, but the other still doesn’t unlock the doors. Before taking the car to a Mercedes specialist, I’d like to try resetting or re-syncing the key fob. I’ve found a few methods online, but none of them worked, and there’s no information in the manual. If anyone has successfully reset a key and can confirm it works, I’d really appreciate your advice.
