Vinyl Wrap W204

I’m considering wrapping my car, in either dark blue, or dark green, and I’d love to see some examples of people who have done something similar.

How is the durability of the new materials? 10+ years ago I had a U.S. domestic model’s front end wrapped with clear to protect it from chips, etc. After about 3 years the leading edges were beginning to show signs of wear. Had the wrap removed and then had some reconditioning work to do on the paint.

Honestly I dunno. I like the carbon look so it hides allot. It was pretty thick wrap and I glued all the end down under the hood with plybond which is some pretty serious glue.
As you can see the car is Mars Red and chipped all to hell and I had a few small dents. It was a trial so I'm curious also to see how long it lasts thru the car washes and winter s.
The chips disappeared under the wrap and there is one debt from a branch that was a couple inches long that still shows thru. If it lasts a decent amount of time I'll actually fix those next time. But my car has had a cursed life and it's lipstick on a pig at this point.

Well it looks good in the photos. I was thinking that the carbon fiber would be a good look on the A & C pillars, roof, and deck lid, too. Ha, ha! I’m spending your money for you.

That carbon fiber might be more durable than the clear vinyl was. Around here it’s like driving through an obstacle course in a sandstorm. On the freeeways front end gets sand blasted from uncovered sand haulers, windshields get broken by gravel trucks, anything from construction debris to household appliances can be on the road. Then on the secondary roads it’s blown out tires and busted wheels from pot holes and eroded road edges. The cars are taking an unbelievable beating, but we can’t go 100% trucks. The clear wrap was an experiment that we haven’t tried again.

Yes I would think clear would be tougher to pull off.

I thought about wrapping the top but I had a tree branch fall thru my sunroof and debt in my roof. I patched it with body glue and a piece of metal then rattle canned it red. Sunroof repair was gonna be 17k so they totaled the car and I drive it to work with no sunroof.
It's kinda hard to see in those pics because of the angle.

Both dark blue and dark green work really well for car wraps. Dark blue gives a clean, sporty look that feels timeless and looks almost black in low light but shows rich color in the sun. Dark green offers a more unique and premium appearance, especially in deeper shades like emerald or British racing green, and tends to stand out in a subtle, classy way. Many people are happy with either choice, so it mostly comes down to whether you want something more classic and safe (dark blue) or more distinctive and elegant (dark green).
