W204 C250 Sport - Tire Recommendations?

Does anyone have tire recommendations? Low noise is important, as is wet weather grip. Keen to learn your experiences.

Well now, I went with Summit Ultramax tires. Had them on over a year now and I have zero complaints and like them. They are much quieter than the previous tires I had on which I cant remember what they were. Driven on the highway a few times in rain storms and no issues. Winter no issues though the roads were plowed already, I dont drive in snow storms unless I really need to. Its the main reason I got the 4matic, I will only own 4-wheel drive vehicles for the few times I may drive in snow. The tires are wearing great.

Paid around $410 installed thru Amazon service plan. No alignment. I would buy them again.

1)Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. May be a a bit of overkill on a C250 but I had them on my C250 Lux Sedan and really liked them.
2) Continental Control Contact Sport. Very quiet. Very good wet traction.
3)Yokohama Advan Sport A/S. Excellent wet traction. Maybe not as quiet.

Many good choices in tire sizes for C Class.

Vote #2 for the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4. Excellent in the wet and quiet. I am on set #3 on my 2013 C250 Sport (first two sets were All Season 3).

I got the Riken Raptor ZR A/S from Tire Rack for about $410.00.
I am happy with it, very quiet and smooth.

I ended up buying four Continental Supreme Contact DWS O6 plus tires. Will advise once it rains. My part of VA is full of "sporty" rural roads so will provide feedback.

I returned the continental Extreme Contact DWS06 + tires. They were awful. Soft, spongy imprecise. Incompatible with my sport suspension. I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4's as you suggested. Way better tire!

I tried Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 +. They were really bad. I swapped them for the Michelins you suggested for a $138 up charge for all four tires. Much better!

I drive aboot 25K miles/yr. I've never had problems with the Continental DWS06/DWS06+, they're fine. I recently changed to Bridgestone Potenza RE980 AS and these are also acceptable. Honestly my main criteria was tires with UTOG rating of 500+.
for my commuting, with 90% highway and 10% in town stop and go. Again, acceptable for a boring commute and stop and go traffic and not spirited twists/turns and mountain roads. I'll have to give the Pilot Sport all seasons a try as I thought they only offered the P.S.4S summer tires

I don’t remember the rating number on the PSAS 4, but mine lasted ~40,000 miles on 75% highway 25% poorly maintained secondary blacktop. Mine felt best at 2 PSI over the lower pressure on the fuel door.

Copy that. 33psi is pretty low. The tires feel better at around 36 cold. There's also the added protection a few more PSI gives you.

How quiet are they? The Michelin pilot sport 4's I had fitted hotel like crazy at any speed above 25mph. The cheap tires that were on my car when I bought it were far quieter!

I had those Michelin PS4s on my BRZ. I'm pretty sure anything else will howl a lot less than those tires.

They are getting worse. I've only put about 1.5k on them. I'm not happy with them at all!

PS4 is a completely different tire from PSAS4. My PSAS4 were quieter than the Yokohama Advan Sport tires that Mercedes put on the car. Doesn’t Michelin offer a satisfaction guarantee?

My mistake. My tires are actually PSAS4. Just checked the invoice. I am going down the satisfaction guarantee route.

I would have recommended the PSAS4 to anyone based on my experience. Maybe the Yokos were so loud anything would have seemed quiet. There were many different Advan Sport tires depending on the application. These were designated V405.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 here on the C250 coupe (staggered tires) and no issues with noise. Rears have about 15k miles, front has about 5k miles.

On my Audi A4 which have the AS3+ I was getting some noise (around 30k miles of wear) that I thought my be a wheel bearing but it must have been the tires, as its gone now sometime after a tire rotation. They’re pretty much done now at 38k miles, a couple tires are down to wear bars, not planning to drive in any rain, and replace them in Q1 2026.

I’m considering the Nokian Surpass as an alternate to the Michelins. Potentially for the Audi and the Merc.

I met with VP from Discount Tire last week and they are going to let me trial different tires FOC. I'll let you all know what I settle with.

I've had four new Continental Control Contact Sport SRS+ tires fitted FOC today. I'll advise on performance and NVH once they've been on a for a couple of weeks.

These tires are excellent.
1) Super low noise
2) Great steering feel
3) Excellent road holding in wet, dry and light snow
4) Compliancy matches C250 sport suspension characteristics at factory tire pressures.

I 100% recommend these tires, and I have tire OCD as you can tell 😁

Glad those worked out for you. I just got a new set of Michelin PS All Season 4 on my Audi A4 last week, no issues. However I was noticing on the C250 that the rear tires (same Michelin AS4, but 245/40/R17) seem to be wearing really fast, the passenger rear is about 4/32 and the driver rear is about 5/32, with only about 15k miles of driving on them. Also not sure why one side is 1/32 less than the other, I might get them rotated side to side (darn staggered setup). Alignment is fine.

I'm still enjoying the Continental tires. The road holding is brilliant. I'm going to resist the temptation to test them on this weekends freezing rain. 😬
