Mercedes C200 2009 – Rough Idle, Shaking & Power Loss Issues
I own a Mercedes C200 2009 (W204) and recently experienced some strange symptoms that I’d like your help with.
Here’s what happened:
- While driving, the car was running perfectly fine. I stopped at a red light and, once it turned green, I started to accelerate. Suddenly, I felt a huge jerk with a sudden drop in RPM (felt like a loss of power). After that moment, the car drove fine again until I reached the next stop.
- When I stopped at the next light, the car started shaking badly while in gear (D).
- If I shift to Neutral (N), the RPM rises to about 1.5k, then drops back down.
- When shifting back into gear, there’s a loud noise and strong shaking.
- The car stalled once, but since then it hasn’t stalled again. Still, the shaking at idle in gear continues.
- While driving above idle RPM, the car is completely fine — smooth, no shaking at all.
- I also noticed that in Comfort mode, the car has very poor acceleration — I really have to press and hold the pedal until it slowly picks up power. But in Sport mode, it drives much better.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be related to the MAF sensor, throttle body, transmission, or engine mounts? Any guidance or advice would be really appreciated before I start throwing parts at it.

Also post which engine you have.

What was the specific code #?
Have you inspected all the hoses and lines? May have an air leak somewhere.
I got it checked by mechanic and they told me i need to replace the MAF sensor because it has become faulty but i still doubt if the issue of the car is due to the MAF sensor or it's related to the transmission

It might help to see boost values in real time as ‘deviates” doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s a bit unusual to get 3539 by itself and not associated with another code.
