Advice on wheel setup for my W204 C280 — 18" rims
I’ve been researching tire and rim setups for my 2009 Mercedes-Benz C280 (W204) and could really use some input from people with real-world experience.
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
- Rims: Front 7.5Jx18 ET44, Rear 8.5Jx18 ET49 (OEM Rims)
- I live in Egypt — roads aren’t perfect, so I’m concerned about bubbles or sidewall damage
- I do drive fast on highways
- Always use all-season tires
- Considering Michelin Pilot Sport 5
After some digging, I found that 225/45R18 front and 245/40R18 rear are more comfortable and better for rough roads while still being sporty.
I also considered 255/40R18 rears, but they’re hard to find here.
My main questions:
- Is 225/45R18 front + 245/40R18 rear a good setup for daily use and occasional high-speed runs?
- Anyone in hot/dry climates (like the Middle East or similar) running this combo long-term?
- For tire pressure — would 38 PSI front / 40 PSI rear (cold) be fine to stick with year-round, or should I adjust seasonally?
- And what do you guys use as a spare tire for a staggered setup like this?
