You probably need to remove the ESL and replace with an emulator. You will need to send the ignition switch and let away for programming.
If the ESL has failed in the unlocked position then disconnect the battery. If the steering column is locked then try thumping the column to get it to unlock. In the locked position removing the ESL requires steering column removal.
I posted recently with pics ref fitting an emulator to my W204, with ESL failed in the unlocked position.
