I purchased a new C220D COUPE with an AMG kit installed the cost of the car in Ireland was €54000.00 you could buy a full AMG C Coupe in the USA for this money approx. $65000.00

I see some elements of fair pricing. For example you can get the better stereo without being forced to buy the navigation system.

The 4-cylinder version isn't so outrageous given that it has 4matic in a fuel-efficient package (finally), except for the name. "300"? Give me a break. The V6? I dunno, sorry I don't like that engine in the first place.

The 400 isn't as much more expensive as it seems since it includes Premium 1, the package around the better stereo. The other package with navigation is excluded. Given that BMW includes it in the F10 5-series that is ... dicey.

I am sad that Mercedes now aggressive goes with that "lines" like thing, with a bunch of interior colors and woods disappearing the moment you go "sport", and then making that the only choice with the v6. Not a smart move and it's only the American customers being harassed with this BS.

Pricing a C300 with premium, "no line" and a 428i xdrive no line, white on beige leather, both premium package, heated seats, upgraded stereo and LED lights the Mercedes comes to $46,650 and the BMW to $48,725. The BMW takes a hit on the LED lights since they fold it into an expensive package with automatic high beams. If you rate their Xenons as sufficient subtract $1900.

Things get complicated quickly from there if you want sport or otherwise different suspension, navigation, HUD etc.

and that would be a poor choice. the current E (even a 2014) model has nothing on the w205 c class. it is slightly bigger but the new C is leagues ahead of it in every other department. now if you are talking about the 2016/2017 E class then i can promise you its going to be much more than 6k over the C

Not sure why you're using the 428 as a comparison, since it's a coupe; BMW has always charged a premium for the coupe version. The sedan with the equipment you mention above is roughly the same price as the C300. I think both are over-priced, but what are you doing to do?

I used the 4-door 4-series Grand Coupe which IIRC has no markup.

The 3-series 4-door is too ugly

I highly doubt that when MB introduces the 3.0 bi-turbo in the 2016 E-class (E400) that the car will be $6000 more than a C-Class. If you configured the current gen E550 (I just did) with the same options as the c400 the prices is up north around $70k. I just built a c400 4Matic and it was $57,595 with most of the bells and whistles, minus the heads up display, park tronic, remote trunk and other junk I don't need. I want the rear wheel drive as I don't need 4matic, and then subtract another $2000-$3000. No point of comparing a c400 to the current E350.

IMHO, the 2016 E400 with its refresh, will most likely rise in price too. I am betting a a fully comparable E400 will be about a good 8-$10,000 more than a C400.

Just for the heck of it, I just built a current gen E350 4Matic and with same options as the c400 it came out to $66,624. That's almost 8-10K more still. Not E-class pricing at all unless your comparing a c300 to E350 which doesnt make since. 4cyl vs V6.

Don't know if you've seen them both in-person; to my eye, the 4-series coupe is FAR more elegant, IMO!

The current E class prices are very negotiable also. Read the E forum, guys are getting 10K off sticker. I would go with the current E class if it had the C class interior.

If that's the case then I will look at the current E550. No way I would look at the E350 with the outdated (lethargic) v6 which I have in my c350.

If the discounts on the e550 can bring the car price close to a fully loaded c400 then I may budge.

Mostly E350 thats on the lot I believe. But if you can find an E550, they will negotiate plenty.

MB will be making a lot margin off the C class.

If the new C is similar to the old/current E, it begs the question of "Does that squeeze customers out of the E?"

Is the E going more upscale ? If so will it hit up against the S ? If not, why buy an E ?

I just called my dealer. They are basically handing away the E-Class 350 coupes, not sedans. They are not selling well and they are forced to move the excess stock that they have. No budging on the e550 4matic sedans. I can get $5,000 off, plus my MB company discount, but you are talking about MSRP on a $75K+ plus car. Not happening. My dealer has one on the lot and holding firm with price.

Again, E350 with current v6. I'll pass.

I will continue to wait for the c400 rwd.

There isn't going to be a C400 RWD for the U.S. market anytime soon.
