New C300 Discount

Hey Guyz,

My dealership is offering me a discount of 5% + $500 off + MBCA Member discount ($500) (and / or) Fleet Services Discount ($500) on the new MB C300 vehicle with the following specs:

1. C400 4Matic
2. Black / Crystal Grey / Liden Wood
3. Air Balance Package
4. Premium Package
5. Hands-Free Access Package

After reading other threads, I did not find a discount more that what I've said here. Was wondering if anyone else got a similar or more discount on the new vehicle. Also, this is a custom order and estimated delivery is in Oct - Nov this year. I am planning to go ahead with the order. Any comments on the config / price ?

I don't know where you are located at but that is a good deal for now. One dealer here in LA said no discount at all for now.

So, this is the final discount figure. 5% + the Fleet discount. ($500). I'm going to place the order tomorrow!

I did go to the MBCA website (Mercedes Benz of America) and they do show you are entitled to a $500.00 discount. However it also shows that you have to have been a member for 1 year prior to your purchase. I don't know if the dealer is going to be that particular or if it actually has to be verified by MBCA. Seems like the offer should be for "anyone" who's an MBCA member...this is my first MB...why would I have to wanted to join prior?? Oh and FYI...there is also a $500.00 discount for retired/active duty military!!

You have to be an active member for atleast an year. Only then you will be able to generate a MBCA certificate that entitles you to get a $500 discount. Also, the dealer said he can use only one discount. Either the Fleet or the MBCA discount!

Make sure your dealer will honor the MBCA certificate. For whatever reason my dealer said they don't honor those anymore (typical dealer BS). So do your due diligence beforehand so you won't be burned.

I just placed the order for my First Benz! I would like your inputs on the following extras. Is it worth purchasing any of the following ?

1. 2 years additional warranty
2. Fix car dents (size restrictions apply)
3. Prepaid maintenance 3 years
4. Wheels protection plan

Please let me know.

Other posters have done the math to state that the pre-paid maintenance is generally a good value....

1) you can get up to 3 year extended warranty. It's cheaper to purchase it within the first 30 days of getting the car. You can likely get a much lower price purchasing from one of the dealers listed in various extended warranty threads in this forum then from your selling dealer. This warranty is 100% refundable before the 4yr/50k warranty expires, or pro-rated after that.

2) Depending on how many dents you expect to get. Most paintless dent repair shops charge $75 to $100 per panel. My last car had only 2 dents over its 6 year life. All on the drivers door from other people swinging their doors open without regard. Cost me $100 to fix it at the local paintless dent repair shop (they actually came out to my home to fix it).

3) Pre-paid maintenance: Ask your dealer how much they charge for each service and figure out if its worth it. I've called several dealers and at some, its cheaper to pay per service, while at others its about $100 more for the 3 service than the pre-paid options. The thing with pre-paid is you can not return it for a refund if you don't use it. If your car gets totaled or stole, you won't get the unused portion back. The savings isn't as great as the 30% they are advertising either.

4) Wheel protection plan: Again, how often do you damage your wheel or tire? I've driven over a million miles and only bent one wheel (curbed about a handful), so for me it was not a worthwhile option. But if you damage your wheel or tires often, then it may be worth it for you.

My SA told me that this was one of the reasons MB introduced pre-paid maintenance. Apparently service stations were getting into "price wars" w/ each other and possibly leaving out needed services so that they could undercut the competition. My service station (W.I. Simonson) has "good," "better," "best" levels for all scheduled service stops. The SA says that pre-paid automatically gets the mid-level ("better") service.

Even w/ coupons, pre-paid maintenance in my case would've been break even at worst. I plan to get pre-paid for my next car....

Well that is BS--that person ought to be FIRED by the dealer! Why would they not accept it since MBUSA reimburses the dealer for the MBCA $500 certificate. I used it on my 2014 S550 4matic purchase in February. That person is clueless!

Because my dealer is difficult. After calling MB Club + MBUSA I finally got the dealer to honor the certificate. Honoring a given entitlement to the $500 discount should not require the customer to spend 1 hour of their free time to call corporate just to get it approved at the dealer level.

It's not my salesperson's fault but rather upper management that seems to make things difficult. But at least everything is sorted out now.
