Wait Time

Does everyone know what is the wait time on a loaded C400? Is it lesser than normal as it's assembled in Alabama?

Thanks

That is a very good question. I would guess that because they're building them here just for the U.S. it would take much less time than the typical 6-8 weeks it takes to order one from Germany or elsewhere. What does your dealer say?

I ordered a C400 last week...not completely loaded...but it's only a matter of weeks from the build date to delivery...the longest wait is to the build date. My build date is 1 Oct '14 and we're expecting a delivery early November...my understanding is they're trying to pump out C300s with the occasional C400 in there as well...they're expecting a higher demand for the C300 initially.

in toronto, my sales friend told me they will arrive somewhere in november.

and he didn't mention anything about 360 camera being not available. since it is part of the premium package for c400 here in canada i would guess it all sorted out.

I ordered a loaded C400 at the end of April. The build date at the time was the last 10 days of August. The date was later updated to August 29th. Since it's built in Alabama, I assumed it would only be a couple of weeks to delivery. I can't see why they would hold on to it for weeks once it's built. Hopefully I'll get an accurate delivery date on Saturday or early next week.

I take you put a deposit when you order a car to your specifications correct? Does that mean that the contract is done when it arrives?

Also will dealership lower the msrp pricing even if the car is ordered?

Thanks

I put a deposit on the C400 ordered to my specifications in April. Even though no pricing was available at the time of the order, we negotiated a percentage off total MSRP.

There is really no way to answer that question. There are too many variables. It all depends on if the sale is a cash deal, if there is a trade involved, or if there is there financing involved. It's best to negotiate the price of the car as if it were a cash deal. After getting your best price, bring the trade into the transaction and then talk about financing options if you wish. If you have prepared and know the value of your trade, you can decide if the dealers offer is fair. It's easy for a dealer to give you a big discount on the new car, and then try to under value the price of the trade to increase their total profit.

Try to give the lowest possible deposit. Most dealers would take $500 - $1,000, which in my opinion isn't unreasonable.

I was informed today that the C400 was not built on the 29th as expected and is now estimated for September 5th. Still no delivery date estimate. One would think that Mercedes production schedules would be more precise. We'll see what happens next week.

Guyz,

QQ. How long does it take for a dealer to get the production & delivery date after a custom order is placed? I've paid the deposit for the car 2 weeks back and until now my dealer did not give me any kind of information regarding the car. Is this normal?

I placed my deposit back in Feb 7, 2014. And all i know is my ordered car will be here somewhere in November. Yesterday I already saw a C400 on the road tho.

Be patient.

I got my build date the same day I ordered the car...from what I've read so far there seems to be very little consistency in what each of us are being told. I have a 1 Oct build date with an early/mid November delivery...and yet another post indicates an early build date in Oct with a delivery at the end of Oct...

My C400 was just built today. I don't have a delivery date yet. The dealer hopes to have an estimated date by Monday. I ordered at the end of April. The build date was originally the last week of August, then updated to August 29th. That date slipped to September 5th which turned out to be accurate. Alabama to the Northeast shouldn't take long, I hope.
