Anyone here getting or got a MB extended warranty for your W205?
If so, how much, what model (c300,c400), and what were the terms (7/100,7/70)?
Trying to get an idea if dealers are rippin people off.

I'm in. Seems worth it since refundable. If do a forum search, there's a few contacts at dealers in USA who offer the MB warranty for just over cost. Usually much less than local dealers. YMMV

Has anyone in Australia ever been offered extended warranty? The topic wasn't even brought up when I ordered the car. Will have to check with my dealer when it gets closer to delivery.

If you are long termer and with all the complicated electronics, for peace of mind, I would get it. 7/75k should be under 2k for a C400.

Is the extended warranty with Mercedes directly or a third party? When I bought my Acura, they sold me a third party warranty but never disclosed it as third party until time for me to use it. Nevertheless, the third party told care of my extended warranty work just fine.

From the way Mercedes sells their extended warranty (with a set MSRP through all the dealers, official brochures, official procedures to qualify/sign up for it, etc), I think it's officially through Mercedes. Maybe not Daimler in Germany, but certainly through the Mercedes HQ of that country/region.

It was new and I was totally pissed off but that was four year after I bought the car. I was told by the dealer that it was much cheaper going third party with the same coverage ($1500 vs $2800). Anyway, it's something to watch out for.
I want a Mercedes direct extended warranty since I will not be getting my service done at the same MB dealer where I bought my car.

I will not be getting the extended warranty. Odds are in MB's favor that they will make money off it and not me (that's why they offer them, after all), so I'll self-insure and play the percentages that I will come out ahead. I plan to keep the car long term.

I'm considering it as I still await delivery...although I thought I may have read grumblings from folks who have purchased it and found that some repairs were still not covered under the extended warranty...

Just to clear up some mis-information, no the warranty is not fully-refundable if not used at the end of the term. It can be partial refunded or prorated if you, say a year into the extended warranty terms, and you haven't used it.
The contract itself is called an Extended Service Contract, not an extended warranty. For other manufacturers or dealers, the extended service contract may be through a 3rd party which handles the claims and typically have deductibles. And their contract explicitly states what's covered. You want one that explicitly states what's NOT covered. It's more inclusive of all the parts to say what's not covered than try to have one that try to list all that's covered.
In any case, the extended service contract from MB is $0 deductible and covered by MB themselves and not a 3rd party. The terms is the same as that of the original manufacturer's warranty.
Hope this clears some things up.

Most factory esp's are prorated for the unused time/mileage if the vehicle is sold or totaled before the contract period is up. My Ford and MB esps are factory my daughters Honda ended up being at the purchasing dealer which they didn't disclose.

If you do that, they inspect your car prior to approving it, and charge you for the inspection. Even if your original warranty is still valid.
