Assist systems overlap ?
Am i wrong in deducting that there seems to be some overlap with the newest system "Collision Prevention Assist Plus" (note the "Plus") and the (older) BAS systems?
Initally i was not aware that the Collision Prevention Assist Plus system would perform true AEB (autonomous braking) I thought it only modulated the brake force once the driver applied the brake pedal, but the Euro NCAP appears to describe a true AEB function at lower speeds.

1) Does anyone know where the sensor(s) for "Collision Prevention Assist Plus" is located and can comfirm if the sensors are radar or light based?
2) Would anyone know the maxumum value of brake force, Collision Prevention Assist Plus will apply in true AEB mode? The test by Euro NCAP, would indicate no more then 40-60%

2) well it can apply 100% percent brake power if needed to make a full stop, however the system is working well, prevent collision if speed is max 50km/h above that well it reduce impact power but does not unfortunately prevent it. But it is still the best available on the market.
Re. the applied brake force, looking at the test video, I very much suspect that the system will never apply more then ca. 50%. At up to 50 km, from the point the system commences the AEB function, it does not require full brake force to bring the car to full stop.
At higher speeds, (where the collision is not avoided) the system clearly does not apply full brake force, or even half. I am however sure this is what the Engineers intended. They did not design the system to fully take over for the driver at higher speeds.

If Collision Prevention Assist PLUS, is able to detect Pedestrians, that would be a huge plus.. but i suspect it can only detect other vehicles.
