Considered getting one but after driving the c300, the numbness of the steering, made it apparent that I couldn't buy one. They need to tighten it up. I know it's a benz but just don't like the loose feeling. Anyone think Mercedes needs to have better and tighter steering feel?

Did you use the agility select function?

As far as you know, is there any set-up difference on steering and suspensions between the EU and the US models? I ordered my W205 without driving it (and I don't have agility select). Coming from a BMW (an X1, not an M3!) with hydraulic power steering will be upsetting for me?

All W205 regardless of market has the Agility Select option, however cars with Airmatic will make the best of the system.

Pretty shocked to see people complain over the 205 steering, its by far one of the best imrovements from the 204 IMO

Hope so but not shure about that: in the Italian options list it is written that agility select is only available with A/T and, for the "Executive" model it is a € 100+VAT option. My W205 has M/T and it's "Executive"

My non-sport C300 has fairly light steering, but it is very fast and does have some feedback. It's very similar to the current Audi A4 in feel.

Sport mode increases the weighting slightly, Sport+ a bit more. Unfortunately, you can not select Sport+ for the steering under the Individual setting of Agility Select. You get Comfort and Sport only, and Sport offers only marginally heavier weighting than Comfort mode.

Electric assist power steering is not known for its road feel, and probably can never approach the feel and natural weighting of a good hydraulic assist rack and pinion system. The steering system on the W205 is fine, but it is relatively light and offers only minimum road feel through it. While I personally prefer a heavier feel and more feedback through the wheel, I have no problems with this steering at all. It has excellent on center tracking and does seem to weight up nicely through hard cornering.

It seems most folks making the initial transition from hydraulic to electric steering across a variety of brands are more disappointed than pleased with the change (loss) in feel/feedback (if they are predisposed to notice such things). Coupled with whatever level of effort a manufacturer chooses, it is difficult to predict with any reliability that this poster will be pleased unless and until they try it.

For what its worth I am not a fan of electric steering but drove the W205 last week and although not perfect it was not bad and noticeably better than the steering in the current gen BMW 3 series (which is the reason I still have my E90 335).
