My new C400

Hi Guys,

I'm a long time lurker on this forum and finally purchased my first Benz...its a black on black 2015 C400..and it is a stunning car!

Here is a pic:

I drove the car down from Edmonton to Vancouver this week, and not only is it fast and comfortable, I got around 27mpg through the mountains.

Needless to say I'm very pleased and hope to keep this car for a good many years.

Congratulations on your beautiful new C400!

I have a C300 that I picked up three weeks ago, and am thoroughly enjoying it.

Expect to go through an experience similar to learning a new computer operating system with Comand. Once you figure it all out ... or most of it anyway ... it's fairly intuitive and makes sense in a Mercedes Benzish sort of way.

It is an exceptionally well balanced vehicle, and I'm sure you'll get many miles of pleasure from it. Enjoy!

Congrats on the purchase! As a W204 owner, I must say this is one of the best pictures of the W205, nice stance, enjoy!

is it true that most c400s being delivered at this point are without sport package? most c400 seems to have 18.5 wheels and no airmatic.

I remember seeing 19's on jb's c400, but the rest i saw on forum or on the street are all without sport package.

I think your right, but I did see one white c400 with the sport package on the showroom floor of my local dealer...I did notice that pretty much all of the new c's on the ground and ready to here in Canada are limited to mostly white or black.

Yes, very sharp looking car !

Was your mileage figure based on actual fill or car's computer ?
Imperial mpg or US mpg ?

In fact, wrong since all c400 have the sport package, what is optional is 19 inch rims, 18s are standard. There is no 400 "luxury" model.

Hi DerekACS, that figure is based on my trip computer, but I believe it to be fairly accurate as I have driven about 600 kms since my last fill and I still have a 1/4 tank of fuel left...about 90% of the driving was highway.

Keep in mind I had a 2012 F150 truck and a 2015 WRX STi before this car, so the mercedes feels really fuel efficient to me...

On another note, I drove the car on Sport+ for a bit today; it's a rocket ship and would walk all over the STi I had before. The character of the car is completely different in Sport+ and I love the low end grunt of this motor.

ok i have neglected to say that I am in canada, and Canadian spec C400 has a sport package that adds the amg interior, 19 rims, airmatic and something else i didnt care much(amg velour mats?). and base C400 comes with amg exterior. I talked to my sales and he said it is true that most c400s on canadian streets are without airmatic at this moment.

It could be different from US specs.

I don't really see the point of a C400. I mean, once you end up paying for a C400, C450, C63 AMG... why not just buy an S550?

Never really understood the need for an AMG sedan either, would rather own 2 cars like a proper sports car aka Cayman + C300. Or better yet, a 911 4s and a S600

Well, I own a 2013 Porsche Boxster S and a 2015 C300. Personally, I think it's the perfect combination.

Same here c400 and s2000. The logic is inevitable, one for summer, the other is for the rest of the year. One is the never sell classic the other is the everyday "transport". It never hurts that the "daily car" is quite a bit faster than the "fair weather" sport car

I'm not a Porsche fanboy by any means but you're just plain ignorant if you don't think the Cayman is a proper sportscar.

Just one personal nit. Your benz would be even more awesome if the lower lip chrome were dark chrome. The chrome one looks better with the silver and white cars. On dark cars it sort of defeats the understated elegance factor. To me it looks a little bling, though that may be what others preffer. What do you think?

Huh?? An mx5 is as close as you can find to a pure sports on the u.s. market today. It may not be your up of tea, but that doesn't make it any less a sports car.

I have to agree the Miata is the quintessential sport car. I only wished it was fast. The S2000 was IMO was a better all around sports car (I'm biased since I own one), but Honda let it fade into oblivion. Kudos to Mazda for not letting the light, agile, affordable and fun ragtop go extinct. The new one looks stunning.

DanW205: You mentioned earlier that you drove from Edmonton to Vancouver. How did you find the seats for comfort on a long drive ?
