What are these..?

Can someone clarify what those elements in the front corners of the bumper are? They are only on the Avantgard line I think - certainly not the AMG and I don't think it's on the Exclusive either.

Are they just "bling" or do these have any functional aspects (e.g. light)?

I wonder if they are removable, it might look better without them...would be more inline with the others, which look fine without them.

A little too much "horizontal action" IMO.

They are removable but will leave mounting holes, however you can replace the entire black part to one without the chrome strips.

What's wrong with you? The car looks absolutely gorgeous to me. But again, to each their own.

I passed a W205 this morning on my way to work and the area in question has LED DRLs. I did a double take and swore it looked like it might have had Michigan Manufacturer plates.

Must be an aftermarket solution, there are no OEM equipped DRL.s

Aftermarket LEDs are pretty obvious, at least to my eyes and these looked OEM, the headlight housing themseleves didn't have a DRL (unless they were disabled)

There are three different headlights available, Full LED (ILS), standard LED, and basic Halogen.

Both LED headlights have the DRL strip in the headlight housing, the Halogens have not, they look like this.

However, the DRL.s are lit in this picture, and as you can see only chrome trim in the bumper.

Yep, I've seen those DRLs on a car recently too but the car I saw this morning definitely had a light in that area of the lower portion of the bumper and I'm 110% sure it was a W205. I didn't get a great look at the license plate but again I'm pretty sure it was manufacturer's plate. Lots of manufacturers send cars to Colorado to do high altitude testing but this car wasn't masked at all so I'm sure it wasn't here for that reason. The lights had a soft white glow to them, reminiscent of the arcing curve of the DRLs in the headlights but not nearly as bright...they weren't of the ***** variety you would associate with say some of Audi's LEDs.

That is a "base" model (note the lack of AMG goods and smaller air dam). That bling is not offered in the states, its just for looks.

It's not the base line. In the UK it's part of the 'Sport' line. In Germany and Holland it's part of the AVANTGARDE Exterieur package.

In the US its the base. We have 3, Base (the one in the picture), sport (AMG looks and brakes) and finally luxury which is base with traditional grill and softer suspension. Unlike most places, in the US, most of the options are bundled in packages. In Europe the car can be configured almost entirely "a la carte". The bundling helps keep the price lower, makes manufacturing simpler and (hopefully) improves reliability. We don't get the cheaper versions that can be had all over the world like cloth seats, small engines etc. You won't see any C class taxis here.

I know, but unfortunately it's not cheaper...for example an C400 4M AMG Line 7G will cost around 50.000 usd and in Holland we have to pay around 70.000 euro (=90.000 usd).

All cars are a lot cheaper here. First there is the exchange rate, second, taxes. In fact everything in the US particularly when it comes to automobiles "cheaper". You simply can't compare the prices over there and here you have to compare them within your own market. In the US, very, very few people can buy a 90k dollar car, that is the price of an S class. On the other hand in Europe people would have a heart attack if someone told them they had to pay 25000 dollars a year to go to a "public" university or that just walking in the door of an emergency room was 2000 dollars.
