hi guys,
on a 2001 C320, anyone know how to manually release the tray from the cd player ?

You'll have to check the technical manual for that. I'm sure that takes a trip, to the dealer since essentially in all OEM systems, if there is a manual release its somewhere on the box you can't reach without disassembly of the unit.
If you used a non standard disc be prepared to pay for the job. If the dealer is nice he might do it for free but don't count on it since its quite a bit of work.
