I am not sure if you can disable Parktronic audio only, you can disable the whole system which is useful when entering a car wash.
Mine beeps when pedestrians walk by at stop lights and come close enough.
The W205 system differs from the W204 in that the front LED bar has been replaced by the center display screen with a multicoloured stereo type bar. The beeps are a high pitched rapid tones. You should also see the bar appear when you are driving in stop and go traffic and are perhaps a bit too close to the car ahead.

When this thread mentions Parktronic, are you referring to the add on option that parks the vehicle for you (active parking assist)?
Or is there a basic Parktronic, that has nothing to do with automatic parking assist?

Im not talking Park Assist - I'll prob never use that feature - I am talking more about reversing into a spot and wanting to here some beeps to let me know to stop. yes I use the rearview and camera but the beeps are nice additional warning.

I just had to test this out. I used a leaf recycle bag which is about 1.3m or 4 feet high and about 2 feet wide.
As I reversed the Parktronic display up front showed a red light around the rear bumper icon then as I got closer it started to beep. The roof LEDs went from amber to red. The weird thing was that it did not beep for very long just around 3-5 seconds then stopped. I did try to get it to go again by moving a bit closer but it did not come back on.
The whole process is repeatable so this means that ParkTronic has a rear beep function.

Mine only beeps when you are practically about to hit the thing you are heading towards. My BMW used to beep slowly and increase in frequency the closer you got, which I think is a better solution.

My reverse camera has never beeped. When I reach the yellow cross bar, I'm about as far as I want to get to the object behind me. It might beep when I get to the red bar, but the sound of the impact might drown it out.

That's how it should be according to the manual. There is a schematic in the manual of the sensors reach, I believe for the rear its 4 feet. Of note if you are really close, within a few inches, it will shut up. My guess is that its simply to avoid the racket.

So I spoke to a technician today at MB, they said the audio warning ONLY comes with Parktronic. I have the rear view camera, but NOT parktronic, so, is this not a possibility? Can anyone confirm?

In the US the sensors are bundled with the self parking feature which I didn't care for nor want. With the camera you just use the guide marks but there is certainly no beeping. Whew.... for a moment I thought we were talking of another electrical gremlin. It seems that up to now most have been false alarms. Sorry you weren't aware when you ordered it, MB's nonsensical packaging strategy makes it very difficult to order stuff.

My C300 used to beep when it hit the yellow, but recently it went silent. I actually think it may have happened after I took it into the dealer for a recall. Could they have downgraded the firmware? I also read that in the older CLS models the sound stopping indicated a sensor failure due to water damage.
