Airmatic - must have or no?

I wanted AirMatic to have the flexibility to run the 19" wheels without giving up too much comfort. Even on 18"/steel the ride was firmer than I wanted. Here at least there were no AirMatics on the ground with any of my color choices, so I decided to do an ordered car. (I did get to drive an AirMatic car before deciding).
AirMatic reliability is good right up until around 75k miles. Then you start seeing individual strut failures, and if you're really unlucky a compressor failure.

Struts are by far more expensive than the Airmatic compressor unit.
