Auxiliary heater (code 228)

I apologies in advance if there is another thread covering this, I did search for it and could not find one.

I live in Sweden which is cold for most of the year, so I opted to add a heater to my w205 order. I thought it could be controlled by my smartphone but I have grown more and more anxious that this will not be the case. Hence my thread about connect me and command online. I dont think it is available in Sweden yet because I could not choose Sweden as a country on the mercedes.me portal.

However, the reason for me asking about this is cause I only care about beeing able to start the heater remotely. I know that you receive a remote control with this option but I have no idea about the range of this one. And since I live in a large apartment complex I dont think it will have enough range and it would be such a treat to just start it via my iphone.

I have sent an e-mail to my local dealer but I figured it could be an interesting topic for this forum as well since there are a lot of smart people here witch a lot of experience.

I did have this feature on my 2014 E-Class, and I have to tell you that I was very impressed with the range of the remote - I am not sure what kind of range you need personally for it to useful to you, but it worked smoothly for me when using it at work where the car would be parked probably 100-150 meters away from my office - Also, several concrete walls, and glass facades which you find in modern office buildings did not seem to prevent the remote in getting its signal to the car.

There's also a timer feature on the remote with 3 presents - So if you know roughly when you're going to use the car next time, you can schedule the car in advance to heat up and be ready for you.

I didn't get this feature with the C-class though, and I have to say a miss it a bit now that winter is here.

You can also use it during summer time to to cool down the cabin if your car is parked in the sun, and avoid getting into a burning hot cabin

So yeah, if the implementation is anything like what they did in the E-Class then I would probably not be too worried.

Hope this helps a bit
