I brought my 2015 C300 Sport to my dealer (Benzel Busch in Englewood, NJ) for my 10k service and raised the issue about the brakes screeching in the cold winter mornings. They sincerely apologized and told me it was an unfortunate known issue, but would need to leave my car for 2 weeks in order to get it fixed. I'm dropping it off on the 13th and they're giving me a loaner for that time. Hopefully everything is properly fixed.

Two weeks? It doesn't take more than a couple of hours to install the new shims to correct the screeching.

That's an odd way to take care of a simple service visit. I called my dealer about this issue a week ago, and just got the call that the parts were in. I'm bringing the car in next week and will have it back in a couple of hours. I have no idea why your dealer would want to keep the car and give you a loaner for two weeks.
Can anyone let me know if they have had issues with c450 brakes. I hear a noise from the brakes every time I release the brake pedal when t a full stop.
Sounds like pads sticking to disks ...suction releasing type noise and loud enough to be heard in the cabin.
Took the car to a dealership in Montreal who had to call a tech from MB Canada to see what the cause was...
After a day of tinkering with my brand new car with less than 1000km on it...they told me they were going to replace the discs and pads with parts from AMG that need to be ordered from Germany.....different compound pads... Can this actually be true or am I being taken for a ride?
I have had performance cars before and needed an affordable 4 door due to young family....I have had Brembo callipers on other cars no noise just amazing grab....
So my front brakes started screeching as the temp dropped. Called my dealer and told them about the bulletin# I found on this site. Took it over and he said he has to get approval from MB before he can do work on the car. He also said he had two others in the shop for the same issue. Later in the day he texted me saying it was approved. I picked the car up one day later. No noise now!! I have attached the service invoice in case anyone else needs to show it is an issue to their dealer.
My C300 is starting to have the same issue during cold + wet weather. Funny thing is, it does not make much noise when I back out of my driveway but get extremely noisy when I reverse to my parking spot at work after about 35 mins drive. Curious to know if the same TSB applies to Canadian MB owner. Thanks
Just had the shims installed by my dealer under the TSB. The brakes are now free of any noise ... and also feel a bit more firm and engage higher on the pedal.
when its really cold, mine still squeak a little with the wheel turned while in reverse. oh well
Mine were so loud that I could hear them screeching whenever my wife pulled the car out of the garage ... and we have a detached garage that's about 100' away from the house. And that was with all the windows in the house closed up tight. It was incredibly loud.
I had my car in for another time because the LI document mentioned in the thread did not fix my issue.
There's a new LI document addressing the issue, basically completely new brake pads. Only 30 sets were available, I got mine replaced and it's now in national back order.
The LI document was released on 2/16/2016.
LI#: LI42.10-P-063311

Reason: add LI number
Talked to SA while I was at the dealership for a minor issue the other day. He said that they receive similar complaint daily but he is not aware of any TSB for Canadian C class currently. He assured me that the car is safe to drive but feel free to make an appointment for detail exam if I prefer.
I am having basically the same issue of heavy squealing/screeching, but unlike in most of the cases described here it does not really depend on the temperature or humidity of the weather or the brakes. The squealing actually gets louder after a few km of driving when the brakes have warmed up.
I see that the service bulletins mentioned here concern only U.S. market. Has anyone had the same issue solved in Europe. I am driving a German market C220BT with AMG package, so it is likely that the brakes would have the same or at least very similar size and compound as the US C300.
Help is desperately needed as my dealer says they find nothing about it in the system and if I want they can change the pads and rotors on my expense but they cannot guarantee it would end the squealing.
I've now had the front pads replaced twice. Still screeching when the outside morning temp is in the 30's. Took it in for the third time; the dealer confirmed the squeal but could not figure out where it was coming from. No joy.

It's not just the front pads that have to be replaced. Shims have to be added too. I had my pads replaced in 2014, before the service bulletin. It seemed to work a little but the screech remained. The shims were added later and solved the problem.
My wife has a new GLC that is having the exact same issue. It's quite embarrassing.
Are there any disadvantages of putting shims on to fix this issue?
I haven't noticed any disadvantages of the shims and they have fixed the screeching issue. On the coldest days I still got the occasional chirp from the brakes, but the loud, screeching, wake up the neighbors noise is gone.
I've had the cold morning squeal for two years. The dealer replaced my pads last year, but it didn't solve the problem. I was told yesterday by my dealer that MB is aware of the issue with C class and GLC's and is working on a fix. Has anyone heard the same or know more?
I've recently begun parking outside, and when I reverse in the morning (getting very cold here in Maryland - 26 degrees F right now) I get a ridiculously loud squeal. They just need to be warmed up.. so I've begun backing in when I park. Solved. lol
Mine were screeching as well....on top of that discs were uneven as well after only 10000 km. Screeching was explained as "strange type of salt used in Sweden during winter which somehow affected the brakes". Obviously only on Mercedes.....
Luckily this was before the salting period so their explanation was lousy at best.
Anyway, car was in two weeks ago and they replaced the brakes. No screeching or wobbling since then, hopefully it will remain that way.
